My research focuses on the macroeconomics of long-run growth and economic development. I study the deep, historical drivers of economic transformations—ranging from how the evolutionary selection of human traits (such as patience) has shaped interest rates and growth over centuries, to the mechanics of structural transformation and the role of natural resources in the growth path of nations.
